Grays at London 2012
Once again, Grays has had a successful Olympic Games producing some healthy statistics. In total, 30% of the players competing at the London 2012 used Grays sticks during the 14 days of competition. Grays was represented by at least 1 player in all 76 games played at the Riverbank Arena. Grays players scored notched up an impressive 74 goals (24%) out of the overall 303 scored at the Games.
Grays players were responsible for an impressive 45 out of the 118 goals scored (38%) in the Women’s competition. Great Britain’s Crista Cullen signed off as the joint top scorer in the Women’s competition netting 5 times. Crista scored the highest amount of penalty corners, 5 in total. Other scores in the top 10 goal scores chart using Grays were Seul Ki Cheon, Korea (joint 3rd) with 4 goals (2nd highest PCs) and the Holland’s Gold medal winning captain, Maartje Paumen with 3 goals (joint 3rd PCs).

In the Men’s competition, Great Britain’s Ashley Jackson scored an impressive 6 goals with 5 coming from penalty corners (2nd overall PCs). Jackson ended the games as the joint 2nd highest scorer. Korea’s Hyun Woo Nam ended up joint 7th in the top 10 overall scoring 4 goals (joint 3rd PCs). Overall, Grays notched up 29 goals out the an overall totally of 185 (16%).
