Grays sponsored player Hugo Inglis is an eager young forward making his way in the game at this level and is extremely excited by his first senior appearance here in Dehli at his first World Cup.

19 year old Hugo is a product of the New Zealand performance programme and has risen through from the Under 16 ranks - soon progressing to the NZ Under 21 team that took part in the Junior World Cup in Singapore last year.

Hugo recalls "It was great to be a part of the Junior World Cup where we did really well eventually finishing fourth. I have great memories of scoring my best goal against Holland "

Hugo started playing hockey at the Kaikouria Primary School at the tender age of 5. Mom Caroline and Dad Malcolm didn't play hockey so it was Hugo's elder brother Harry who joined in playing hockey against each other. His development and progression owes a lot to former New Zealand Indoor international Dave Ross.

Hugo is currently studying by correspondence course and is in his second year of a Business Degree at Massey Uni. Between games here Hugo has spent his time relaxing and playing " Car park cricket " with teammates as well as the odd session in front of his books.

An excited Hugo said "It is special to play in front of the crowds here - So different to the 200 or so back home "

A relatively new member of the Kiwi team Hugo promotion in to the Senior team has been rapid and he played in both the World Cup Qualifier and recent Champions Challenge tournaments.

Hugo says " There's not much space or time on the ball upfront so I am trying to work on my job within the team and make an overall contribution"
